The Production Dept.
Photography and Video Production for Tour Operators and Rail Travel Brands
Tour Operators and Rail Travel Brands
Tour operators sell more than a destination. They sell the journey — the rhythm of a train moving through mountain scenery, the anticipation of a new city at dawn, the moments between itinerary stops that guests remember long after they're home. Capturing that requires more than a camera and a flight booking. It requires someone who understands the product from the inside.
At The Production Dept., we embed ourselves in the trips we shoot. We travel the routes, experience the transfers, stay in the hotels, and eat in the restaurants. What comes back isn't stock-feeling imagery — it's content that reflects what your customers will actually experience, shot in a way that makes them want to book.
What We Deliver for Tour Operators
Photography
Destination imagery, transport and journey photography, accommodation and dining details, authentic guest and talent moments — we build libraries of assets that serve your brochures, website, email campaigns, and social channels simultaneously. Shot with longevity in mind, so one trip delivers content across multiple seasons.
Videography
Route preview films, destination showcase videos, short-form social content, guest testimonials and brand films — we produce video that translates the feel of a trip into something a prospective customer can almost experience before they book. We work efficiently on location and deliver to platform-specific formats as standard.
Large-Scale Content Projects
For operators with significant content requirements — multiple destinations, large point-of-interest libraries, multi-platform asset suites — we have experience managing and delivering at scale. We've produced imagery and video across dozens of European locations for a single client brief, on schedule and within budget.
Full Production Management
We handle the logistics so your team doesn't have to. Pre-production planning, local fixers, permits, crew, equipment, travel logistics, and post-production delivery — all coordinated from a single point of contact. You brief us, we take it from there.
We've Worked at This Level
We've delivered content for some of the UK's most recognised names in tour operating and rail travel.
With Great Rail Journeys, we've travelled the routes — on the train, on the ground, and at the destinations — producing content that reflects the genuine appeal of slow, scenic rail travel.
Whilst working for Jet2holidays, I worked across multiple European locations producing a library of over 7,500 individual Points of Interest with a team of freelancers and editors — a large-scale content project that demanded consistent quality, efficient logistics, and reliable delivery at volume.
These aren't projects you can fake your way through. They require genuine experience, good judgement under pressure, and the ability to keep producing strong work when the schedule gets complicated.
Why Tour Operators Work With Us
-

We travel as part of the trip.
We don't parachute in for a day and leave. We experience the product the same way your guests do — which means the content reflects the reality of the experience, not a staged approximation of it.
-

We are built for this kind of shoot.
Whether it's a single destination film or a multi-location content project spanning several countries, we maintain consistent standards throughout. Our production management experience means large briefs are handled methodically, not chaotically.
-

We understand the commercial context.
our operator content has to work hard. It needs to sell a trip to someone who hasn't taken it yet, justify a price point, and perform across multiple formats and channels. We keep those objectives in mind from the first day of shooting to the final delivery.
-

We're straightforward to work with.
One point of contact. Clear timelines. No unexpected costs. We know how busy marketing teams are and we make the production process as friction-free as possible.
